Where you are looking. Each pose has a recommendation as to where you should look while doing this pose. That drishti aids in alignment and helps you to focus. Drishti can also be describes as a fixed gaze. It’s important to ensure that your gaze is a relaxed one, without straining eyes or neck. An example is that Mountain Pose’s drishti is forward. Another example is that Warrior II Pose’s drishti is following the front hand forward.
To start off by definition the title of my blog “Grounded Yogi” is completely inaccurate but I liked the ring of it so here we are.
I am definitely not grounded. Being grounded is what I strive for, my ultimate goal and I’m working towards it slowly. I tend to have my head in the clouds, with grand ideas that generally don’t tend to form fully or execute well. But a girl can dream – right?
The proper use of yogi is to describe a male (which I am not) master of yoga. Is anyone really a master of yoga? Some have it more mastered than others, but really we are all learning & practicing yoga. Yoga is one of those things that is an ongoing journey. I personally don’t think it can ever be mastered ! FYI – the more proper term for myself would be yogini which is the female version of the term.
That being said – welcome to Grounded Yogi.
